Position: Senior Social Worker – Fostering Service
We are recruiting Senior Social Workers to join the Fostering Service.
Salary: £45 339 – £50 726 per annum * and a relocation allowance of up to £6 500* plus excellent benefits. A retention bonus of up to £10 000 over 3 years is also offered.
Hybrid working – full time 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a genuine interest and commitment to working with foster carers.
- Act as a proactive member of the team around the child and foster family.
- Take a strengths‑based and relational approach to supporting children and families.
- Maintain a positive attitude and continually seek to improve the lived experiences of children living with Sandwell’s foster carers.
- Support care‑experienced young adults who stay put with their former carers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Social work qualified, registered with Social Work England, and completed an ASYE programme in a children‑and‑families setting.
- At least 2 years post‑qualifying experience as a social worker, preferably within a Fostering Service.
- Excellent analytical skills to make informed decisions with a positive impact on the child’s journey.
- Strong listening skills and ability to ensure a child’s voice is heard.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and possessing effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Clear decision maker and good team worker.
- Ability to assess risk and knowledge of relevant procedures to manage and reduce risk.
- Experience of working with children in care (through other teams if applicable).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures relating to fostering, looked‑after children and young people.
