Overview

Temporary post for one year from start. Required to start as soon as possible. The Woodlands are seeking to recruit an Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for ensuring the provision of an effective secretarial, administrative and clerical support service to facilitate the EHN Team in managing and delivering high-quality support for students with special educational needs, ensuring compliance with school policies and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the EHN Team to enable delivery of high-quality student support and compliance with school policies and statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • Computer literate and able to use a variety of software packages to produce letters, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience of working in an office environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Location and workload

The Woodlands is based across a number of sites in the county and the post holder will be required to work across The Woodlands site. Initially the post holder will be based in Sacriston.

Communication

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Working terms

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

  • Number of teaching weeks – 38 weeks
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days)
  • Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days). Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.

Examples:

  • Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
  • Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
