Overview

Band 3 Security Officer, 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern, 37.5 hours per week, primary based at Preston or Chorley Hospital with work across both sites and other Trust locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Protect patients, staff, visitors, property, and assets across Trust sites.
  • Assist in the prevention and detection of crime, disorder, and anti‑social behaviour.
  • Conduct proactive internal and external patrols.
  • Secure Trust buildings and premises.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents and emergencies, including fire alarms and fire‑related incidents.
  • Support clinical teams through bedside security duties when required.
  • Manage challenging situations involving patients, visitors, and members of the public using conflict resolution and de‑escalation techniques.
  • Carry out general car parking and traffic management duties.
  • Respond to all Trust security and fire alerts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues to maintain a safe environment.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activity, criminal behaviour, and security breaches.
  • Assist with investigations and evidence gathering where appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop professional competencies through training and continuous development.

Key Requirements

  • No previous security experience necessary – full training will be provided.
  • General education including English & Maths.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Access to vulnerable people; Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
  • Desirable: Basic IT skills.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Experience dealing with conflict.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety.
  • Public Service experience.
