Role Description

The Project Engineer role at Skycutter is a full-time, on-site position based in Loughborough. This role involves leading engineering projects from concept through to testing and delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements, timelines, and quality standards are met. The Project Engineer will plan and track project milestones, prepare technical documentation, and support integration of power systems, propulsion, and specialist payloads into sUAS platforms. Day-to-day activities include collaborating with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers, managing risks and issues, and supporting test and validation activities on the ground and in flight. The role also includes regular communication with internal stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements, provide updates, and ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Project Engineering and Project Management skills, including experience overseeing technical projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Candidates should possess solid Project Planning abilities, including scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and progress reporting.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Candidates should possess foundational Electrical Engineering knowledge, ideally with experience in power systems, control systems, or integration of electronics into complex platforms.
  • Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering or a related field, experience in UAV/aerospace or robotics, and familiarity with industry standards and safety practices.
  • Additional beneficial skills include systems engineering, requirements management, CAD or simulation tools, hands‑on testing and troubleshooting, and experience working in a fast-paced innovation environment.
  • Must be eligible to qualify for UK Security Clearance
