About the Role

We are looking for an experienced cloud engineer to join our IT Service Delivery team. Your key responsibilities are to support and improve Microsoft Azure and core business platforms, maintaining the availability, security and resilience of our Azure and wider IT estate. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, support day‑to‑day IT service operations, deliver technical change, and service improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support Azure solutions across compute, storage, networking and security
  • Monitor and optimise cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency
  • Maintain security controls and governance (RBAC, Azure Policy, Key Vault)
  • Support incident, problem, change and configuration management via the IT Service Desk
  • Deliver technical change and transition new or updated services into live operation
  • Support resilience, backup and disaster recovery arrangements
  • Maintain documentation and provide reporting to support audit, compliance and service improvement
  • Support licence and cloud resource procurement, sharing knowledge across the team
  • Champion the IT Service Charter and foster a culture of high customer service standards
  • Develop, monitor and maintain data backup and recovery systems, ensuring continuity of IT services
  • Coordinate penetration testing, remediation of vulnerabilities and maintain a secure operational environment
  • Manage procurement of software licences and cloud resources, ensuring compliance and value for the business
  • Own the delivery of personal objectives and service improvement targets, evidence progression and growth

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Experience

  • Successful track record within a similar infrastructure or platform engineering role
  • Significant IT network support experience with Microsoft Server technologies, Exchange Server, Active Directory Group Policies, Microsoft 365 SaaS Platform and Microsoft Azure Platform
  • High‑level knowledge of infrastructure security, service delivery and disaster recovery
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and clear communication with non‑technical colleagues
  • Student of or graduate to SCQF level 7/8 in an IT related discipline

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft PowerShell and System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Project management qualifications or experience

Essential Education & Training

  • Educated to SCQF level 7/8 in an IT related discipline
  • Obtain and maintain relevant Microsoft certifications for the role

Desirable Education & Training

  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Key Skills and Knowledge

  • High level knowledge of IT network support and architecture, IT data and telecommunications systems, IT service delivery, IT security practices and policies, and IT disaster recovery
  • Strong awareness of new IT technologies and how they can benefit service development
  • Knowledge of software engineering and development life cycles
  • Experience supporting network routers, Voice‑over‑IP technology, data backups and cloud‑hosted telephony systems
  • Formal project management qualifications (desired)
