Job Overview
Our client is the UK’s premier high street retailer. As a Store Detective, you will operate across their network of stores, using your observation skills to help prevent theft of stock. The work of the Detective team is crucial in identifying, apprehending and prosecuting criminals who target our client.
Main Duties
- Observe, deter and arrest those taking part in criminal activity.
- Liaison with police forces and other crime prevention partners to stay updated with crime trends.
- Build a local network to identify and disrupt crime.
- Report incidents accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Occasionally attend court to provide evidence.
- Stock stationary cupboards, ensuring all are stocked to the correct levels.
- Report building issues and see through rectification of these requests and closures.
- Support the delivery of space utilisation data by carrying out periodic audits.
What We Are Looking For
- Be highly adaptable, as no two days at our client’s regional stores are the same.
- Remain calm under pressure and react quickly in challenging situations.
- Have experience in a customer‑facing role with a strong customer service background.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, preferably with a GCSE of equivalent in English.
- Be proactive and forward‑thinking, demonstrating adaptability and a desire to improve existing practices.
- Be strongly self‑motivated, possessing a can‑do attitude and a drive to learn.
- Have a positive, outgoing personality, eager to be part of a strong and established team.
- Be SIA‑licensed; store detective experience is highly desirable.
- Have exceptional observational skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations and make quick decisions.
- Have confidence to challenge people when necessary.
- Be able to use modern surveillance systems, such as CCTV and electronic tags.
