Description
Pod – a leading UK EV charging provider – is part of the EDF family. We are driving a smarter, more sustainable energy future and are looking for a Product Engineering Manager on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract to lead our platform strategy and delivery.
You will own platform strategy and performance, manage vendor relationships, control budgets, take hands‑on ownership of platform improvements, drive adoption and business value, lead prioritisation and demand management, align platforms with business strategy, lead squads, develop and lead the team, and manage change.
Key Responsibilities
- Own platform strategy and performance – manage health, performance, risk and a clear roadmap of improvements
- Manage vendors and commercial relationships – act as primary contact, own contracts, negotiate renewals and hold partners to SLAs
- Own budgets and optimise spend – forecast, licence management, identify cost optimisations and build business cases
- Deliver hands‑on platform improvements – configure, integrate and enhance platforms
- Drive adoption and business value – collaborate with stakeholders to embed new functionality and measure outcomes
- Lead prioritisation and demand management – balance competing priorities and make value‑based decisions
- Align platforms with business strategy – collaborate cross‑functionally to support product and organisational goals
- Lead squads and delivery – own sprint planning, backlog prioritisation, remove blockers and ensure delivery commitments are met
- Develop and lead your team – line‑manage, mentor engineers and administrators, build capability and inclusive environment
- Drive effective change – lead business change alongside delivery, planning adoption from the outset
Essential Requirements
- Enterprise platform expertise – experience managing business‑critical platforms such as CRM, telephony, or similar SaaS/COTS tools
- Vendor and commercial management – experience negotiating contracts and ensuring service level delivery
- Budget ownership – experience owning technology budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Hands‑on platform experience – comfortable configuring and integrating platforms with bespoke solutions
- Agile delivery leadership – led teams in an agile environment using metrics and practices for continuous improvement
- Strategic decision‑making – balance short‑term needs with long‑term platform health
- People leadership – line‑manage, develop individuals, manage performance and build strong teams
- Clear and direct communication – comfort navigating challenging conversations
- Attention to detail and delivery focus – pride in getting things right and moving swiftly when required
Bonus Skills
- Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Vonage
- Background in scaling platform teams within fast‑growing organisations
- Experience driving large‑scale platform migrations or transformations
- Strong understanding of business change and adoption strategies
