Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

We are recruiting for a Site Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring all plant, equipment, buildings, and site services are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers, drive engineering standards, support continuous improvement, and ensure full compliance across all engineering and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a site-based engineering team of circa 12 engineers
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the engineering department
  • Ensure plant, equipment, buildings, and site services are maintained and operating safely
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, standards, and site projects
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, statutory requirements, and internal engineering standards
  • Manage engineering compliance, including site services, distribution systems, environmental compliance, and legionella management
  • Support energy efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives across the site
  • Work closely with internal departments including Operations, Health & Safety, HR, Facilities, Technical, and Logistics
  • Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies where required

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing engineering environment
  • Previous people management or engineering leadership experience
  • Strong multi-skilled technical knowledge
  • A recognised electrical qualification
  • Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A professional, positive, and solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to build strong relationships and communicate confidently at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills with a meticulous approach to work
  • IT literacy and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience managing engineering compliance across a manufacturing or industrial site
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and energy reduction initiatives
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and regulatory relationships
  • Previous involvement in continuous improvement projects
  • Experience leading multi-skilled engineering teams within a high-pressure production environment
