Job Description

A leading specialist provider is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join their residential children’s services team in Wrexham. This full‑time role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Service Manager in delivering high-quality care and ensuring statutory compliance within a dynamic and supportive environment. The Assistant Manager will play a vital role in managing the day‑to‑day operations of the home, supervising staff, and maintaining excellent relationships with external agencies, all while promoting the organisation’s values and therapeutic ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing all statutory compliance matters for the home, ensuring regulations are met.
  • Support the management of children’s admission, discharge, and care planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with families, social workers, and other professionals involved in the children’s care.
  • Act as designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Lead and support staff through supervision, performance management, and training initiatives.
  • Oversee resource management, including staff recruitment, deployment, and budget control.
  • Ensure the home remains a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment.
  • Monitor and support staff performance, attendance, and well‑being.
  • Assist with implementing and reviewing individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Support the Service Manager in maintaining accurate records and management information systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ successful experience working in Residential Children’s Services.
  • Proven middle management experience in a care setting.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Maths/Numeracy and English/Literacy.
  • One of the following qualifications:
    • Level3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)
    • NVQ 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services
    • NVQ 4 Management (assessed in a care setting)
    • NVQ 4 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
    • NVQ 4 Care
  • Proficiency in therapeutic support techniques, including physical intervention (training provided).
