Requirements
- A solid background in software engineering, ideally with development experience in a regulated software safety context such as Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Nuclear, or Medical applications.
- Experience with Ada is preferred, or strong experience with C or C++.
- We also welcome experience in other software languages such as C, C++, or Rust.
- A passion for software engineering, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems.
- A willingness to develop software skillsets.
- Knowledge of software design differences between Real-Time OSs and Hypervisors would be beneficial.
- Experience using Linux operating systems would be beneficial.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with a team, communicating and contributing to design and implementation decisions, and supporting integration.
Responsibilities
- Join a small talented team to develop middleware solutions for the next generation of advanced missile systems.
- Develop solutions across a large range of problems, from hardware drivers to web services.
- Work across multiple applications on both land and maritime projects in our systems software department.
- Contribute to design and implementation decisions.
- Support integration activities.

We are a world-class defence organisation based in Bristol, working on software and successful deployment in battlespace Command and Control weapon systems. We develop technology at the forefront of European missile system design, delivering safe, secure, and reliable products to our customers. The role is onsite four days per week, with a four-day working week also acceptable from Monday to Thursday. This is a six-month subcontract opportunity with a very likely extension, often ongoing and long-term thereafter. The position is inside IR35, with a one-stage video interview process.
