Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Senior Civils Estimator to join our civil engineering work‑winning team and support the successful delivery of projects through the SCAPE framework.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing tender enquiries, scopes of work and commercial requirements.
- Producing accurate estimates from first principles for earthworks, drainage, concrete, reinforcement and formwork.
- Completing quantity take‑offs from drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Developing bills of quantities, schedules of rates and material requirements.
- Assessing construction methodologies, temporary works, plant, labour and site‑resource requirements.
- Preparing and issuing subcontract and supplier enquiries.
- Interrogating supply‑chain quotations, identifying exclusions, omissions and commercial risks.
- Attending pre‑tender meetings, site visits and client discussions.
- Producing tender summaries, qualifications and supporting submission documents.
- Supporting tender adjudications and agreeing the final tender price with senior leadership.
- Assisting with post‑tender reviews, contract handovers and project kick‑off meetings.
- Sharing knowledge and supporting the development of less‑experienced estimators.
About You

You Should Also Have
- Approximately 8‑10 years of civil engineering estimating experience.
- The ability to price work accurately from first principles.
- Experience of the NEC suite of contracts.
- Knowledge of highways methods of measurement and CESMM.
- Experience pricing civil engineering projects of varying size and complexity.
- A good understanding of temporary works and associated costs.
- Confidence using estimating software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- The ability to manage competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with clients, operational teams and supply‑chain partners.
