We’re working with a specialist engineering business developing advanced electronic control systems for high-reliability applications. They are looking for a Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer with strong power electronics experience to join their team.
This is a hands-on design role focused on ECU hardware and power systems in demanding environments.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop electronic control unit (ECU) hardware
- Work on AC-DC and DC-DC power electronics circuits
- Translate requirements into detailed circuit designs
- Produce schematics, BOMs, and full design documentation
- Carry out worst-case circuit analysis and support DFMEA
- Work closely with PCB/ECAD teams on layout and implementation
- Support validation, manufacturing test, and production teams
- Ensure designs meet cost, quality, safety, and manufacturability targets
- Support root cause analysis and technical problem solving
- Contribute to design reviews and technical reporting
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in electronics hardware design
- Proven experience in power electronics (AC-DC / DC-DC design)
- Background in automotive or high-reliability systems preferred
- Experience with DFMEA and structured design processes
- Understanding of functional safety (ISO 26262 exposure desirable)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with schematic capture and simulation tools
- Comfortable working in cross-functional engineering teams
Nice to have
- Automotive ECU development experience
- ECAD tools (e.g. Xpedition)
- Manufacturing and test engineering exposure
