Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Role Overview

As a key member of the multi‑professional team, you will help deliver the innovative ConnectedPalliativecare service. The role involves providing specialist palliative care, 24/7 rapid response home care for dying patients, and managing a central coordination hub that oversees our end‑of‑life care register. The post will be located between Oldbury Council House and Midland Metropolitan Hospital, requiring you to work at any of the Trust’s inpatient sites and conduct domiciliary visits.

Responsibilities

1. Provide specialist palliative care medical care to patients in our hospitals and community footprint.
2. Take a leadership role in the Palliative and End‑of‑Life Care Quality Improvement Program, building on existing work with acute and community specialities to further improve specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care patient and carer experience across all disease pathways.
3. Support selected cancer and non‑cancer MDTs and board rounds as needed.
4. Develop subspecialist interests aligned to the service strategy, with supportive training and education as required.
