Overview
Join an innovative skill‑mix team of Health Visitors, School Nurses, Public Health Staff Nurses and Child Development Practitioners in North Tyneside Children’s Social Care, a service graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2025.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and support the Healthy Child Programme, promoting health and wellbeing of children, young people and families from the ante‑natal period through age 19.
- Provide clinical care and developmental assessment using equipment and educational tools, ensuring continuous improvement in line with the Children’s Public Health Service Clinical Governance Framework.
- Accept and triage referrals from other disciplines, referring clients to Tier3 services when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the Early Help Service, Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Education, Housing, Primary care, Midwifery services and Sport and Leisure to achieve positive outcomes for families.
- Support effective transition to parenthood and adulthood, addressing inequalities through the Healthy Child Programme.
- Record, audit and plan services using expert data systems such as SystmOne, and contribute to service planning and health profiling.
- Participate in universal access and early identification of additional or complex needs, and contribute to continuous professional development with supervision and assessment of pre‑ and post‑registration students.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult, Child or Mental Health) or Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
- Experience in child protection, safeguarding, and relevant national and local policies.
- Health promotion and multi‑agency working experience.
- Proficiency with IT and keyboard skills for report writing, information retrieval and evidence‑based practice.
- Use of expert data systems for client care, audit, service planning and health profiling (e.g., SystmOne).
- Submission of Disclosure and Barring Service check as required by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
