We are seeking a full‑time Quality Control (QC) Engineer.

Job Summary

The Quality Control Engineer is a key role ensuring Geeplus continues to supply customers with the highest quality product. You will be ensuring that raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products meet all internal standards, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance requirements. In addition to inspection duties you will work closely with the production and engineering teams to help improve our in‑house process controls and produce a high level of documentation to support inspection, process control and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products using precision measuring tools such as CMM, height gauges, surface measurement machine, calipers, micrometers, gauges.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately record inspection results in reports, logs, and quality databases. Create Non‑Conforming Reports, First Article Inspections, inspection procedures and online process quality control.
  • Non‑Conformance Management: Identify, document, and isolate defective parts, initiating Non‑Conforming Material Reports.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes and machinery to ensure operations remain within defined tolerances, catching process drift early to prevent rework.
  • Equipment Calibration: Maintain and calibrate measuring equipment and tools, following operating instructions and flagging devices that require repair.
  • Collaboration: Work seamlessly with all departments to address quality issues immediately and support continuous improvement efforts, including root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate product non‑conformances, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions
  • RMA. Handle customer returns and Inspect returned goods. Produce report of results as needed, you will often have to collaborate with other departments especially Engineering.
  • KPI Monitoring. Evolve metrics to help measure the effectiveness of quality control and the QMS.
  • Supplier Quality. Monitor supplier quality (incoming materials) and provide inputs for supplier KPIs. When needed liaise with suppliers to resolve problems with supplied materials.
  • Train staff on quality awareness, new process and promote the need for a quality mindset and continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in quality inspection and control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Drawings: Able to read engineering drawings and specifications with a full understanding of geometrical tolerancing.
  • Metrology: High level of competency using Zeiss CMM. Able to create Zeiss CMM inspection programs and reports. High level of competency with general metrology equipment e.g. digital calipers, micrometers and Trimos height gauges.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent observational skills to identify minor defects or deviations. A “devil in the detail” mindset to spot even minor deviations from standards that could affect product performance or safety.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with teams and providing feedback to manufacturing personnel. Good people skills and able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
  • Computer Literacy: High level of competence MS office, docs, spreadsheet. Able to produce high QC documents for use on production lines, training material etc. Experience of ERP systems for data entry. Competent with Zeiss Piweb reporting and able to create custom reports.
  • Education: Trained on Zeiss CMM and software. An engineering degree is desirable.
  • Quality tools: Familiarity with quality tools (e.g., FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC), manufacturing methods, and QA standards.
  • Adaptable. The relatively small size of Geeplus can mean that you have to be willing to sometimes to perform tasks outside your usual duties.
  • Responsibility. You will be responsible for the release of products and services so must have experience of a suitable level of responsibility.
  • Proactive mindset. Be willing to take the initiative to get things done.

Physical Requirements

  • Full colour vision.
  • Good eyesight, with or without lenses, vital for inspecting small products.
  • High standard of verbal and written English.
  • High standard of numeracy.
  • Good manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move product.
  • Must have right to work in UK.

Salary

Negotiable dependant on experience, ability and expectations.
