Who can foster?

Almost anyone can foster. If you are 21 or over, are a permanent resident in the UK and have a spare room, the chances are you can be a foster carer. Action for Children foster carers come from all walks of life – caring people who can give a child in need their time, attention, affection and a safe, nurturing place to call home.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• Permanent resident in the United Kingdom
• Ability to provide a spare room

Responsibilities

You will provide a loving and safe home for a child in need, support their development and well‑being, and work closely with supervising social workers to ensure the child’s care plan is met.
