You’ll be working on high-spec aerospace components, where accuracy matters and the quality of your work has a real impact. n Once fully trained, you’ll move onto a shift pattern and play a key role in keeping standards high across the shop floor. As a Manual Cylindrical Grinder, you will:n n Set and operate manual cylindrical grinding machines (S20/RM2500) n Grind to very tight tolerances (down to 0.00005”) n Work from engineering drawings to achieve exact specifications n Support flow plotting activities including: understanding fluid flow paths and behaviour, map and check flow routes and pressure profiles, consider thermal expansion and geometric constraints n Grind components to ensure correct flow distribution and performance n Carry out work that meets strict aerospace quality standards n To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll typically bring: n n Time-served apprentice (essential) n 10+ years’ experience setting and operating manual cylindrical grinders n Strong background in precision grinding to tight tolerances n Confident reading drawings and working to spec n Reliable, hands-on, and takes ownership of their work n It would be preferred if you had: n n Experience in flow plotting or working with fluid-related components n Understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure profiles, and flow behaviour n Experience ensuring consistent flow through precision grinding n Mate grinding experience n n Security Clearance n Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
