CT Rotational / General Radiographer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiographer to join our Radiology Team.
To be a proficient member of the radiographic team with responsibility for producing high quality images for Radiological interpretation across the broad spectrum of client/patient groups. The post will rotate between CT and Plain film.
We are currently in the process of installing a second CT scanner on site at Southport hospital. We are looking for 4 CT radiographers to join our CT rota, this will involve both CT and general x-ray work. We provide radiology services to all the wards and a busy A&E department as well as outpatients. There will many training opportunities including the chance to apply for the CT DRAD556 Postgraduate module in CT, run by the university of Liverpool.
The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.
Main duties of the job
The Team provided radiological services to Health community, providing inpatient, outpatient and GP services to a broad spectrum of client/patient group.
The job is based at Southport hospital with some cross site work at Ormskirk hospital.

Job responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
- Perform radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Be competent in the use of all appropriate x-ray equipment.
- Maintain high standards of radiographic technique at all times.
- Participate in the shift, on-call and out of hours service.
- Perform QA checks on all equipment used within radiology.
- Abide by radiographic protocols.
- Abide by all Radiation Protection regulations.
- Report all equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for sending accurate image data to the Picture Archiving Communication System for storage, transmission, and archive.
- Supervise junior radiographers, assistant practitioners, and students.
- Justify radiographic examinations for Radiographic Assistant Practitioners
- Ensure delivery of a patient focussed service including care comfort and dignity of all patients.
- Take an active role in the general cleanliness and professional image of the department.
- Responsible for assuring the safety of him/herself and others in accordance with Trust and departmental protocols e.g., COSHH, Radiation Protection etc.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for adhering to radiographic protocols.
- Ensure clinical and professional standards are always met.
- Perform all aspects of clinical and technical procedures as per departmental policy.
- Perform intravenous injections as appropriate.
- Comply with Health & Safety legislation for Control of Radiation, VDU use, handling of patients etc.
- Maintain Professional Registration
- Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for accurate data entry on the Radiology Information System
- To ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures (i.e., name, date of birth, address, postcode, GP and telephone number) are all current and correct.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to continuing education programme by attending courses and keeping abreast of current professional developments.
- Supervise and contribute to the training of radiographic assistant practitioners and students.
- To attend other training courses relevant to the post
RESEARCH & AUDIT
- Participate in departmental audit and research programmes.
- Undertake audit with senior radiographers and radiologists.
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
- To support the Trusts clinical governance agenda by understanding the key priorities for change and ensuring that new developments utilise the objectives within the governance agenda.

Qualifications
- HCPC registered
Knowledge & Experience
- Post graduate clinical experience
- Manage self and others
- Experience of participation in emergency single handed out of hours duties
- Ability to perform cannulation and follow ANTT procedures
- General CT Experience
- Evidence of audit within radiography practice
- Minimum of 1 year CT experience
Skills
- Ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical environment
- Excellent organisational skills
- IT literate
