Overview
General Imaging Assistant – Part Time – Band 2, 23 hours per week, Imaging department, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Closing date: 23 July 2026.
The post requires travel to various community diagnostic centres and mobile scanner sites within the region (currently, but not limited to, Whitworth (Matlock) and Walton). You will work across shifts between 7:30am and 8:00pm, including weekends and bank holidays, and rotate between areas and modalities, including satellite hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
- Clinical Support: assist the Imaging Team in the care of patients, including helping patients undress (if necessary), assisting during examinations/procedures, and helping with discharge and informing patients of results procedures.
- Register and book patients using computer systems; attend to patients and help prepare them for imaging; perform general reception duties.
- Escort patients to and from wards and the Emergency Department when required; chaperone patients during examinations when requested.
- Assist with processing of images and post-examination documentation.
- Maintain a tidy and safe department; ensure rooms are stocked with linen and other materials/equipment.
- Support the Imaging team in implementing the Trust’s Prevention and Control of Infection policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate awareness of the Clinical Governance agenda.
- Support research and audit undertaken by other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist, guide and reassure patients at all times.

Job responsibilities

- Participate in stock control and in all audit and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist the Radiographic Team in caring for patients by completing imaging safety questionnaires and assessing patients for cannulation suitability.
- Provide immediate feedback to Radiographic/Nursing/Radiologist teams regarding potential problems with cannulae, patient allergies, ECG, etc.
- Assist patients for discharge and inform them of results procedures; monitor patients before and after imaging procedures.
Please note this post involves working weekends and bank holidays on a rota.

- GCSE Maths (A–C)
