Our client has been established to protect and promote the sustainability of English football, for the benefit of fans and the local communities football clubs serve. They will help improve financial sustainability of clubs, ensure resilience across the leagues, and safeguard the heritage of English football. It will operate a licensing regime, set corporate governance standards and monitor, protect, and promote financial resilience. It will also enforce compliance with requirements on financial regulation, club ownership and directors, fan engagement, and heritage protection. They will also have powers to prohibit clubs from joining competitions that are not fair or meritocratic, or that threaten the heritage or sustainability of English football.
Role Overview
The client is looking for a Supervision Senior Manager. The supervision function sits at the heart of the organization, undertaking core regulatory activity such as conducting financial analysis of the clubs, processing applications for licences, and monitoring ongoing compliance with licensing conditions. The Senior Supervision Manager will oversee day‑to‑day supervisory activity including account management of individual clubs and help to set the overall supervision strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct financial analysis of clubs and ensure compliance with licensing conditions.
- Process applications for licences and monitor ongoing compliance.
- Manage day‑to‑day supervisory activity and account management of individual clubs.
- Develop and implement a supervision strategy in partnership with policy colleagues.
- Collaborate with data, policy, legal and enforcement teams to support robust regulatory decisions.
- Build capability and operational processes and controls needed for effective oversight.
Qualifications
- Experience in financial supervision or ensuring compliance in a regulated sector, demonstrating sound judgement.
- Expertise in Prudential Financial analysis, including liquidity and funding structures.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to reach evidence‑based decisions and balance complex information for legally defensible outcomes.
- Strong delivery capability with a proven track record of delivering at pace in a complex, high‑risk project or programme environment.
- Experience designing and delivering supervisory strategy and providing strong direction and persuasive vision for the supervision function.
- Collaborative approach and creative thinking on new and emerging supervisory issues.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of the football industry, including financial regulation and familiarity with the English football pyramid.
- Expertise in Prudential Financial analysis, risk management or audit.
