We have a Community Staff Nurse position available in the Street team, based at West Mendip hospital but you will be expected to cover the whole area (Street, Glastonbury, Wells and surrounding areas). Our service covers the urban and rural areas of West Mendip, from the Mendips to Ashcott. These positions are dayshifts and are usually 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm. You’ll also work some twilight shifts per week (2pm-10pm) and weekends on a rotational rota, which include additional unsocial hours enhanced payments. There are no night shifts. We offer flexible working solutions where possible to ensure a work‑life balance and part‑time hours will be considered. You’ll need to be a car driver with your own vehicle to visit patients. We offer a mileage allowance to cover the use of your car for NHS business, which includes both mileage and depreciation. Main duties of the job
As a community RN, you’ll provide care to patients in their homes, managing a range of complex health issues and collaborating with various other disciplines. You’ll develop a broad range of nursing skills, including IV medication administration, palliative and end‑of‑life care, complex wound management, catheter and continence care, diabetes management, PICC line care, medication administration, and drain tube management. You’ll need to make autonomous clinical decisions and create holistic care plans, with the support of your colleagues and Team Leaders. Comprehensive training and guidance will be provided by our dedicated Clinical Lead nurse and ACP.
