Overview
Role: QIS Platform Developer within Barclays QA Equity & Hybrid Products. The role provides quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making in the investment banking domain through quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimize trading and investment opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics; optimize trading decisions and risk management across financial products and markets.
- Collaborate with sales, front office, structuring, strats, and technology teams to identify client needs and develop customised solutions.
- Conduct in-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to support decision-making and innovation in the trading environment.
- Maintain and improve front office infrastructure; own analytical libraries and ensure quality, performance, and scalability of tools and platforms.
- Contribute to platform architecture and integration with infrastructure, services, and end-user workflows.
- Provide expertise on quantitative methodologies and industry best practices to drive innovation and strengthen controls and governance.
- Engage with stakeholders to advise on functional and cross-functional impacts, manage risk, and strengthen controls related to the team’s work.
- Lead or collaborate on multi-year assignments, train and coach colleagues, and guide other specialists as needed, while balancing short- and long-term goals and budgets.
- Demonstrate Barclays values and leadership behaviours where applicable; be prepared to step into leadership or subject-matter expert roles as required by the team and business needs.
- Deliver high-performance, scalable tools and libraries in Python and other languages as appropriate, with emphasis on quality, documentation, and user support across Front Office, Quant, and Technology groups.
- Work with Front Office, Quant, and Technology teams to ensure agile delivery, operational stability, and effective end-user workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong Python skills with deep knowledge of the language and core libraries; familiarity with a wide range of programming languages and paradigms, including functional programming.
- Experience developing production-quality software (source control, CI/CD, automated testing); solid software engineering principles and computer science fundamentals.
- Track record in end-to-end project delivery; analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving abilities; effective communication and collaboration.
- Experience in risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital/technology skills relevant to the role.
- Background in QIS or front-office quant environments is desirable; experience in platform development and developer experience is a plus.
