Are you an experienced Support Worker looking for a challenging role where every shift makes a real difference?

We are looking for Temporary Support Workers to join a Children’s Secure Unit in Peterborough, supporting young people within an intense, structured and highly rewarding environment.

This is a role for someone who is calm under pressure, resilient, compassionate and confident working with young people who may present challenging behaviours.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will help provide a safe, consistent and supportive environment for children and young people within a secure setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day care, support and supervision.
  • Building positive, professional relationships with young people.
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and encouraging positive behaviours.
  • Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations.
  • Following safeguarding, security and care procedures.
  • Working closely with colleagues and other professionals.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records.
  • Supporting young people through routines, activities and daily living.
  • Working as part of a strong, professional team in a demanding environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Current restraint/physical intervention training is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable.
  • Experience within secure, residential, behavioural or challenging environments is advantageous.
  • A calm, resilient and professional approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to undergo the required checks.

A driving licence is desirable but not essential.
