Job Overview
We are seeking Mental Health Crisis Workers to work in our Crisis Safe Space provisions in Sedgemoor. The service operates 4 nights per week (5.30pm–11:00pm) in our Wells premises. We provide a safe, welcoming, and comfortable place for people experiencing acute emotional distress to receive the support they need.
We also work with our Open Mental Health partners to seek further support as required.
About you
- Have experience supporting people with complex needs, including mental health.
- Be a great communicator and build trust with those you work with.
- Have a driving licence and access to a vehicle due to the geography of the area.
- Deliver services in a warm and welcoming way, demonstrating ambition and hope for all service users.
- Work from a trauma‑ and psychologically‑informed approach, using a range of interventions such as motivational interviewing, brief interventions and solution‑focused approaches.
- Adhere to Second Steps policies, procedures, values, code of conduct and current legislation using a recovery‑oriented, psychologically informed, equalities‑based approach.
- Co‑produce, implement and review recovery plans, crisis plans and other self‑management tools (e.g. Wellness Recovery Action Plan) in partnership with service users.
- Have a minimum of two years of significant experience working with people with mental health or complex needs.
- Have proven experience with people with multiple needs (e.g. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency, long‑term conditions).
- Have proven experience carrying out needs and risk assessments and supporting the planning process.
- Have experience working with individuals with competing needs and priorities.
- Have experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer or supporter.
