  • Process Validation
  • Production Readiness Reviews
  • Establish and manage Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs), identifying and mitigating manufacturing risks throughout the product lifecycle
  • Drive process capability improvements through SPC, capability analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Define manufacturing methods, routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and standard work instructions
  • Work closely with Product Design teams to ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Automation principles are incorporated into product designs
  • Evaluate, specify and implement manufacturing technologies, automation solutions and machine vision systems
  • Lead manufacturing trials, process qualification and validation activities, including first article support and capability studies
  • Support supplier industrialisation activities, manufacturing capability assessments and Make vs Buy evaluations
  • Act as a technical interface between customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Support manufacturing technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive process risk reduction activities using PFMEA and recognised risk management tools
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of manufacturing standards, specifications and engineering procedures

Requirements

  • Experience within aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), industrialisation or manufacturing transfer programmes
  • Strong understanding of APQP methodologies including PFMEA, Control Plans and process validation
  • Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and production systems
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing requirements
  • Experience working with suppliers, external equipment providers and cross‑functional engineering teams
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Automation
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Production or Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving capability
  • Experience within aerospace assembly and test environments
  • Previous exposure to flight control systems, actuation systems or complex electromechanical products
  • Experience industrialising welding, joining or special manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs)
  • Experience using SPC, capability studies and variation reduction techniques
  • Experience with machine vision systems, automated inspection technology and advanced manufacturing solutions
  • Understanding of special process qualification and control requirements
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Project management qualifications or training (APMP, Prince2 or equivalent)
  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

About the Role

This position sits within Safran’s Civil Value Stream, focused on the development and manufacture of advanced Flight Control Actuation Systems that support next-generation aircraft programmes.

The role is heavily focused on NPI, manufacturing readiness and industrialisation, requiring a hands‑on engineer who can bridge the gap between product design and production. You will work across the full product lifecycle, ensuring manufacturing solutions are robust, scalable and capable of supporting future programme demand.

Working within a highly regulated aerospace environment, you will collaborate with engineering, operations, quality and supply chain teams to bring new products into production while driving process capability, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Candidates with backgrounds in aerospace, defence, automotive or other highly regulated industries, particularly those with experience in NPI, APQP, industrialisation and process development, are strongly encouraged to apply.
