Responsibilities

  • Support the operational management of services, ensuring key national standards are met and contributing to the restoration of elective services.
  • Take responsibility for an agreed set of specialties within the Directorate and assist the Directorate Manager with the delivery of corporate policy, business planning, and service development in line with the Trust’s vision, values and strategic goals.
  • Lead the delivery of a range of national and locally agreed operational standards across designated specialties.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the specialty, optimising capacity to keep waiting times low.
  • Hold specific budgetary responsibility for a defined group of medical secretaries and work closely with them to ensure all pertinent key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved, particularly the 18‑week and cancer targets.
