Job Description:

Company Description

Skycutter is a UK-based developer and manufacturer of advanced small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) for commercial and defense applications. The company combines hydrogen fuel cells and high-energy-density battery technologies with ultra-efficient propulsion systems to achieve multi-rotor flight times exceeding three hours. Skycutter integrates specialist payloads including LiDAR, bathymetric sensors, GPR, cameras, and custom delivery systems tailored to client requirements. The multidisciplinary team includes aircraft design, fuel cell, electrical, software engineers, and test pilots, all focused on enhancing safety, usability, and performance for customers. Joining Skycutter provides the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge UAV solutions that support critical missions and services.

Role Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing mechanical systems and structures for advanced sUAS platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and refining mechanical concepts, producing detailed CAD models and drawings, performing design calculations, and supporting prototype build and test activities. The role involves collaborating closely with electrical, software, and fuel cell engineers to integrate propulsion systems, payloads, and airframe components into robust, manufacturable designs. The Mechanical Design Engineer will participate in design reviews, address manufacturing and assembly considerations, and support continuous improvement of existing products based on test data and customer feedback. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Loughborough.
