Assistant Director of Compliance and Building Safety
Full time, Permanent, 35 hours per week. This hybrid role has a national remit and you will be contracted to your nearest Accent office (Bradford / Burnley / Camberley / Peterborough / Stockton).
About the Role
As the Assistant Director of Compliance and Building Safety, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across compliance, building safety, and agent services. You’ll ensure our regulatory obligations are met and exceeded while delivering excellent, customer‑focused safety services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead our approach to asset compliance and building safety, covering gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, legionella, lifts and more.
- Ensure 100% compliance through robust systems, data (the “golden thread”) and performance monitoring.
- Drive a zero‑tolerance culture for health and safety risks.
- Oversee procurement and contract management, ensuring strong performance and value for money.
- Act as a key contact with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Develop KPIs and early warning indicators to manage and improve performance.
- Lead high‑performing teams and supply chains, embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets and ensure efficient, cost‑effective delivery.
- Support delivery of our Asset Management Strategy and long‑term investment plans.

About You
- CIH Level 5 (or equivalent with CIH top‑ups), or willingness to work towards it.
- Extensive experience in construction or a related field, with a strong track record of managing compliance and safety across large property portfolios.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop high‑performing teams.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of compliance and health & safety regulations.
- Demonstrated experience managing substantial budgets and delivering value through effective procurement.
- Excellent negotiation, decision‑making and communication skills.
- Strong IT literacy, including MS Office and asset management systems.
- As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
