A fantastic opportunity with Bristol City Council’s Legal Service as a lawyer (BG13) within the Child Protection Team. The role involves providing legal advice, support and advocacy to the Council and Children’s Services Department across child protection matters, including pre‑proceedings, care/supervision orders, deprivation of liberty, secure accommodation, female genital mutilation protection, forced marriage protection, placement and adoption orders.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice, support and advocacy to the Council and Children’s Services Department.
- Manage a varied and challenging caseload of child protection legal work.
- Conduct pre‑proceeding work and applications to courts for various orders.
- Advise on risk management and take a client‑focused approach.
- Work under the direction of Team Managers and collaborate with a diverse legal and service team.
- Attend family court hearings in Bristol and team meetings at City Hall at least once a month.
