Grant Thornton’s well established Turnaround and Restructuring Team supports companies and their stakeholders to navigate periods of stress and distress. The team provides restructuring services that deliver thoughtful, innovative, and pragmatic solutions, including turnaround services, restructuring solutions, options assessment, contingency planning, independent business reviews, and formal insolvency appointments.
As part of the national team based in Birmingham, you will work on assignments ranging from investigations designed to assess a corporate’s financial robustness to formal insolvency assignment design, aiming to achieve a quick sale of the business or maximise returns to creditors.
Responsibilities
- Begin to understand and demonstrate the market and current developments, both work givers and competitors.
- Provide recommendations for ongoing negotiations and sales pitches, including origination activities.
- Contribute to internal and external presentations for both the department and the firm.
- Build and nurture a network both internally and externally to the firm.
- Participate in internal and external events, training, marketing, and assignment‑related subjects to promote restructuring services.
- Apply technical knowledge appropriately in the context of individual clients and display skill and speed in resolving client problems.
- Make quick, clear, and unequivocal recommendations to managers about client issues, generating a range of options and narrowing them appropriately.
- Manage junior staff working on assignments, coach them, identify and address performance issues, provide regular feedback, and create development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA).
- High level of commercial acumen with the ability to see beyond the numbers.
- Proficiency in using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
