Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Support the Financial Controller in delivering robust processes and controls to ensure the Trust delivers sound and auditable year‑end reports.
  • Lead and performance‑manage the Financial Accounts team in providing technical financial services and accounting activities to the Trust, ensuring compliance with duties.
  • Lead and performance‑manage the Charitable Funds team in providing financial systems and processes for the Leicester Hospitals Charity.
  • Support production of the annual accounts and in‑year monthly financial monitoring returns.
  • Ensure that appropriate systems of financial control are in place and operating effectively.
  • Ensure all accounting transactions are treated in accordance with the latest professional accounting standards and the post holder’s professional code of ethical conduct.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIPFA, ICAEW, CIMA or Certified) with current registration with a professional body.
  • Significant experience at management level in a finance department within the NHS.
  • Experience of managing staff and developing teams in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience of supporting production of year‑end NHS financial accounts, including IFRS.
  • Knowledge of NHS financial services and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation – able to adapt to diverse audiences.
  • High level of IT skills, advanced keyboard, and ability to manipulate complex data and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical conduct.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.
