Job Description

This role supports local customs compliance activities, ensuring effective import and export compliance processes at Teledyne E2V (Chelmsford, UK). The role works closely with internal stakeholders and senior compliance personnel to maintain compliance with domestic and foreign trade laws, regulations, and corporate policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective import and export compliance processes and practices.
  • Support the Customs Compliance Officer in implementing the customs compliance program, including import control touchpoints, functional instructions, documentation, HTS classification, country of origin, FTA eligibility, valuation, export requirements, forwarding agent management, record‑keeping, audits, and training.
  • Review and validate customs entries for accuracy and compliance with regulations and the Corporate International Trade Compliance (CITC) policies and procedures.
  • Manage Inward Processing Relief (IPR) for multiple sites.
  • Provide quarterly and yearly reporting, conduct regular customs compliance training for functional groups.
  • Conduct periodic audits and self‑audits, implement corrective action as required.
  • Assist in trade investigations and provide support to other Teledyne sites as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Knowledge of UK & EU customs laws and regulations.
  • Experience with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), valuation methods, classification, preferential origin qualification, and MSS data.
  • Understanding of customs special procedures.
  • Strong computer skills; experience collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise reports.
  • Knowledge of industry practices.
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
  • Creativity in continuous improvement and efficient time management.
  • Experience with UK customs systems (CHIEF, CDS) and preference for SAP4HANA expertise.
