Overview
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Waltham Forest to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Reduction Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Responsibilities
- Prevent homelessness by securing suitable housing solutions at the earliest opportunity and facilitating timely move‑ons from temporary accommodation into sustainable private sector accommodation.
- Provide specialist housing advice and support to customers seeking private rented accommodation.
- Match eligible customers to suitable private sector properties through available housing schemes.
- Work proactively to reduce admissions into temporary accommodation by identifying and securing appropriate housing options.
- Support customers currently in temporary accommodation to access sustainable private rented housing.
- Liaise with landlords, letting agents, and internal housing teams to secure suitable accommodation.
- Assess customers’ housing needs, eligibility, and suitability for private sector schemes.
Qualifications
- Educated to A‑Level standard or equivalent (or relevant professional experience).
- Experience working within housing, homelessness prevention, or temporary accommodation services.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing options, and the private rented sector.
- Experience working with vulnerable customers and delivering person‑centred support.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with landlords and housing providers.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise competing demand.
