The Trustees are recruiting an Outreach Worker for the Springboard Project at Oldham Town Centre.
Salary: NJC scale points 12‑17: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum (Full Time Equivalent)
Actual Salary: £24,459 – £26,532 per annum
Allowance: SEN allowance £1,539 per annum
Contracted hours: 36 hours 40 minutes per week

Role Overview
The Springboard Project, part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, provides high‑quality education for young people aged 14‑19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role will be key to expanding our Adaptive curriculum offer, supporting students who struggle to access traditional educational settings through face‑to‑face mentoring, tutoring and support.
The Outreach Worker will work independently on a caseload of students, deploying a range of skills and techniques to re‑engage them in learning. You will collaborate with intervention workers, a middle leader and the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide relational support and engagement with students in physical or emotional distress, including home or community venues.
- Deploy mentoring, tutoring and support strategies to help students regain engagement with education.
- Collaborate with team members and senior leadership to monitor progress and adapt support plans.
- Model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school, catering for students’ general welfare.
- Participate in professional development and reflect on practice.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with secondary school‑aged young people with challenging behaviour and complex SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- A nurturing, empathetic and trauma‑informed approach to behaviour management.
- Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, using a non‑judgemental approach.
- Capacity to support engagement, teaching and learning within an SEMH setting for a dedicated group of students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team using own initiative when needed.
- Willingness to engage in own professional development.
Student Outcomes
- Gain a minimum of 4 Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications, including Maths and English.
- Gain a vocational qualification in a pathway of their choice.
- Develop employability and life skills, including recognised qualifications.
- Have real, meaningful work experiences, including being allocated a job coach.
