At DXC, one of our platinum accounts has openings for client based working Database Administrators at varying skill levels. The successful candidate will work within one of our database support teams and will be focused and motivated with good interpersonal skills. Your role will include optimising and tuning database performance and assisting in database migration.

Role Responsibilities

- Installing and configuring database binaries
n
Writing and maintaining scripts to automate DBA tasksInvestigating and implementing automation of operational processes using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, and Git-based workflowsPerforming routine, periodic, and proactive operational monitoring and maintenanceTroubleshooting database-related issues and driving root cause analysisOptimising and tuning database performance to ensure reliability and efficiencyPerforming patching and upgrades to ensure data security and complianceAssisting with database migrations, including migrations to cloud-based environments such as AWSSupporting database resilience through backup, recovery, replication, clustering, failover, and disaster recovery activitiesContributing to continuous improvement initiatives and the modernisation of database servicesn

Desirable Skills and Technologies

Database Technologies
n
- n
- Administration experience in one or more database technologies such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server
n
Knowledge of database server clustering, failover, high availability, and disaster recovery solutionsExperience with database replication technologies such as Oracle Data Guard, PostgreSQL Replication Manager, and MongoDB Replica SetsExperience in backup and recovery proceduresn
Operating Systems & Cloud
n

- Experience supporting Linux operating systems (RHEL) and/or Windows Server
n
Experience working with cloud technologies, particularly AWSKnowledge of AWS database services and database deployments in cloud environmentsExperience planning or delivering database migrations into cloud environments would be highly advantageousn
Automation & Scripting

- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash
