Salary: £28,000 – 30,000 per year

Requirements

  • We require a first or 2:1 degree, or equivalent, in a relevant technical subject.
  • We look for good A Level results in science subjects, with proven competence in maths.
  • We require some experience of C, C# or C++ programming.
  • We value an appreciation of embedded software, development in Windows or Linux, basic network technologies, and Python, HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET, SQL or SNMP.
  • We need a logical approach to problem solving and the ability to weigh up the merits of different solutions.
  • We look for good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with the team.
  • We want a self-motivated, hands‑on and customer‑focused attitude.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain UK Government security clearance.
  • No prior work experience is needed, as we provide full guidance and training.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Test and Acceptance team with integration and testing of our products.
  • Help develop and execute test plans, and write clear test reports.
  • Carry out software design and development, with guidance, for our products and manufacturing test systems.
  • Write, unit test and debug software code.
  • Take part in software code reviews and act on feedback.
  • Produce technical documentation to record how products are built and tested.
  • Apply your knowledge to project requirements with regular guidance from senior engineers.
  • Put forward your own ideas as your experience grows.
  • Support the wider department and its day‑to‑day activities.
