Senior Mechanical Application Engineer

Lead mechanical solutions for subsea projects at Baker Hughes, translating customer requirements into robust, fit‑for‑purpose subsea equipment solutions that support tenders, front‑end engineering, and project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering input for subsea tenders, studies, and early engagement activities.
  • Interpret client specifications and translate them into compliant, cost‑effective technical solutions.
  • Develop and review mechanical designs, layouts, and technical documentation for subsea systems and components.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including product management, manufacturing, sourcing, commercial, and project engineering.
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams during bid preparation and client presentations.
  • Ensure solutions meet applicable industry standards (API, ISO), internal design practices, and customer requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
  • Support risk assessments, design reviews, and lessons learned activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design or application engineering within the subsea oil & gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of subsea production systems, with detailed knowledge of subsea Christmas trees, tubing hangers and their associated tooling.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Teamcenter.
  • Experience and proficiency in requirement management and interface management using tools such as DOORS and SmartPDF.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
