The Integration Architect will play a pivotal role in the successful rollout of the Vistara AI‑powered scheduling platform across NHS Trusts. Acting as the technical lead for systems integration, the postholder will design, implement, and oversee robust, secure, and scalable integrations between Vistara and core NHS systems such as EPR/PAS, theatre management, staff rostering, and real‑time bed management platforms.
The role requires a balance of technical expertise, architectural vision, and strong stakeholder engagement skills. The Integration Architect will work closely with NHS IT teams, suppliers, and internal colleagues to ensure seamless data flow, high‑quality performance, and compliance with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+, and NHS Digital standards.
This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines strategic design with practical delivery, ensuring Vistara’s integrations are sustainable, compliant, and scalable across multiple healthcare organisations.
Key Responsibilities
System & Data Integration
- Design, build, and oversee end‑to‑end integration solutions between Vistara and NHS Trust core systems (EPR/PAS, theatre management, rostering, and data warehouses).
- Ensure robust data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and synchronisation in near real‑time.
- Establish API, HL7/FHIR, and interoperability standards to enable scalability across multiple Trusts.
Technical Architecture
- Define and document the integration architecture, including data flows, mapping, and governance models.
- Provide architectural oversight of all integration projects, ensuring alignment with best practice and NHS interoperability standards.
- Optimise performance, resilience, and security of integrations.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure integrations comply with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+, NHS DSP Toolkit, and local Trust information governance policies, and to maintain security and audit standards in all data exchanges. working with the compliance manager
- Implement strong identity, authentication, and access controls for integrated systems.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with other partners and suppliers.
- Collaborate with NHS Trust IT teams, suppliers, and clinical leaders to understand data requirements and constraints.
- Provide technical leadership and act as the SME for all integration‑related activities during rollout.
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable deliverables for developers and project managers.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise integrations post go‑live.
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation, efficiency, and scalability across multi‑site deployments.
- Contribute to platform roadmap, ensuring integration strategy supports future product evolution.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience working as an Integration Architect, Solutions Architect, or Senior Integration Specialist within healthcare or similarly regulated industries.
- Strong working knowledge of NHS Systems Integration Standards and Datasets
- Expertise in interoperability standards HL7, FHIR, API management, ETL, and interoperability frameworks.
- Knowledge of Rest APIs, SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, Messaging Systems, File‑based Systems
- Experience in ETL/ELT development and dbt/Transformation Frameworks.
- Coding skills in SQL, Python and other data engineering tools
- Experience using Cloud Data Platforms, Relational Databases and NoSQL Databases.
- Experience of designing secure data flows compliant with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+, and NHS Digital DSP Toolkit.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to design scalable, resilient, and secure architectures.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, capable of working with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Evidence of delivering scalable, high‑availability integration solutions across multiple sites or organisations.
- Ability to translate technical detail into clear language for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.
