Clinical Support Worker – Orthopaedics (Internal Only)

Band 3 Health Care Assistant, 75 hours per week, available as full‑time or part‑time. Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated team player to assist registered nurses and other health‑care practitioners in delivering high‑quality patient care, maintaining patient privacy and dignity, and working as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties
You will contribute to housekeeping and other ward or department duties as required, such as general tidiness, replenishing stock and ensuring clinical equipment is clean, working, and stored correctly. Your work will support the department under the supervision of registered practitioners or assistant practitioners.
The role requires holding a care certificate, or the willingness and ability to complete one within 12 weeks of commencing employment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent (e.g., completion of a competency workbook, short courses, or equivalent experience)
- Theoretical knowledge of clinical care duties
- Experience of a range of care and related procedures
- Experience of clinical observations
- Knowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation
- National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of employment
- Numeracy and literacy level 2
- Undertaken relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of working in health or social care
- Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings
- Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision
- Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, and timely documentation
