Overview
The McIndoe Centre, part of Horder Healthcare, is renowned for specialist surgical care and modern patient-centred facilities. We are recruiting a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician (Bank) to support our ophthalmology service on a flexible bank basis.
Responsibilities
- Carry out ophthalmic diagnostic tests – visual fields, OCT, biometry, fundus photography and visual acuity assessment.
- Prepare patients for clinical assessments and explain procedures clearly and compassionately.
- Maintain, clean and calibrate equipment in line with clinical standards.
- Accurately document results and update patient records and clinical systems.
- Support consultants and nursing staff during ophthalmic clinics.
- Uphold infection control standards and ensure a safe, high‑quality clinical environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks to support smooth clinic flow.
Qualifications
- Experience in ophthalmic diagnostics and comfortable using clinical equipment.
- Proficiency with IT systems and electronic patient records.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Calm, reassuring and able to put patients at ease during procedures.
- Strong communication skills and a patient‑centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Other Information
Hourly rate: £16.90 per hour. Flexible working hours to suit your availability. Right to work in the UK – successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK independently. This role is not sponsoring visa applications.
