Frimley North Outpatient Department – Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker with progression to Band 3 Health Care Assistant

Full Time/37.5 hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated healthcare assistant (HCA) with a varied clinical experience to join the Outpatient team (OPD). The OPD team are passionate about constantly improving our service and delivering high quality care to our patients.

We are looking for committed individuals with excellent organisational and leadership skills. Candidates will be appointed at Band 2 for an initial 8-month period. During this time, they will be required to complete the OPD competency framework and the Band 2–3 transition programme. On successful completion of these requirements, the postholder will progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant role.

The position will involve cross-site working where you will be rotated across multiple departments. The candidate will be based in North OPD which consists of five main sites:

  • King Edward VII and Parapet Breast Unit, Windsor
  • St Mark’s Hospital, Maidenhead
  • Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot
  • Wexham Park Hospital, Slough

Main duties of the job

Sites are operational between 0800 -1830 hrs Monday to Sunday. This role is contracted at 37.5 hours per week. Working days are not fixed and shifts may be scheduled across any day from Monday to Sunday, depending on service needs.

The Outpatient team support multiple speciality clinics such as Oncology, Minor operations, ENT, Rheumatology, Breast, Orthopaedics, Trauma Allergy, Gastroenterology and Colorectal Clinics, Sleep Clinic, Cardiology and Ophthalmology.

You will act as an advocate for the Patients, Nursing and Medical colleagues and actively participate in further developments and expansion of the outpatient’s service to help deliver the FHFT Future Strategy.

The post will also involve providing mentoring and supporting new staff and a variety of learners working in the department.
