Sysco are currentlyrecruiting for a Technical Manager – CateringSupplies to join the Merchandising team on afull time, permanent basis, reporting to the Head of ProductTechnology.
As the TechnicalManager for Catering Supplies it is yourresponsibility to work as part of a designated category teamand manage all elements relating to Product Quality, Safety,Legality, and Integrity for a defined portfolio of suppliers andproducts ensuring a comprehensive technical support service isprovided. Using knowledge of suppliers, products,markets and manufacturing processes to reduce or mitigate productcosts and to design and develop innovative, market leadingnew products and have an active role in leading thepackaging agenda to drive continuous improvement and consistencyacross the business.
This role is offeringa hybrid working contract, with 1 dayper week in our Ashford, Kentoffice for Team Collaboration, so youmust be in a commutable distance and open totravel.
KeyAccountabilities &Responsibilities:
- Providesupport, guidance and expertise to theprocurement & category team in context of supplier selection,supplier expertise, product quality attributes andcontrol parameters which will successfully contribute to exceedingcustomer expectations, growing sales andprofit.
- Support the Constellationinitiative to deliver against the annual growthtarget.
- Stay abreast of industrychallenges, issues and developments, sharing insightwithin the technical, category & procurements teams to mitigateimpact and support salesgrowth.
- Effective supplier managementfrom initial selection & approval throughconducting site visits, setting clear technical expectations,providing guidance & support, issuing performance updates andinstigate joint business/improvementplans.
- Maintain the approved supplierdatabase, complete due diligence visits as required ensuring visitreports are documented and all non-conformances are effectiveclosed out.
- Maintain up to datespecifications for all products.
- Generateand approve own brand artwork.
- Instigateproduct risk management action plan & develop an awarenessof emerging issues, escalating within the business tomitigate business and customerimpact.
- Focus on complainttrending, monitoring & root case analysis, workingwith suppliers to support the annualKPI.
- Instigate a robust qualityassessment programme for productrange.
- Provide support & input toensure marketing literature is informative for ourcustomers.
- Deliver innovative technicalsolutions which add value to the business in areas such as costreduction and/or improved quality without costincrease.
- Support the 6stage category managementprocess.
- Support the team instrengthening / consolidating the supplybase.
Aboutyou:
The idealcandidate will have relevant industry experience within aquality, packaging, product development orsustainability-focused environment. You possess stronganalytical and IT skills, with a sound understanding of qualitymanagement and HACCP systems, as well as European and UKlegislation relevant to the food and packagingsectors. You will have a solid knowledge ofpackaging development processes, environmental issues, currentlegislation, emerging trends and new technologies,enabling you to provide informed and practical solutions. Anexcellent communicator, you can build effectiverelationships across stakeholders and present information clearlyand confidently. Highly organised with strong projectmanagement capabilities, you can manage multiple priorities anddeliver results in a structured and efficient manner. You areflexible, adaptable and willing to travelas required. Experience working within cross-functional teamswould be advantageous, along with exceptionally strongorganisational, communication and project managementskills.
