The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro‑rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role & Key Responsibilities

Working from our offices at Brighton Police Station, the Coordinator is responsible for researching information held on local systems for applicants who are applying to work with Children or Vulnerable Adults in both the Public and Private workforce.
The Coordinator works closely with partner stakeholders, police officers and other agencies and is responsible for searching and identifying information. Using the Quality Assured Framework the Coordinator considers information to be disclosed for the Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
Once trained, the Coordinator will have the autonomy to complete all applications through the initial investigation and, where appropriate, progress cases to the Chief Officer Delegate for final disclosure decisions.
The Coordinator is responsible for the initial decision making on all applications, determining whether the information is relevant to consider disclosure for the position.
- Manage all applicants to ensure all applications and referrals are completed in line with the Service Level Agreement.
- Assess and prioritise work streams and produce an audit trail of the decisions made.
- Write clear and concise rationale on decisions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including Child and Adult Services.
- Monitor the unit’s mailbox and delegate workflows.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge or experience of information gathering, decision making and report writing.
- Education to Level A‑C in GCSE English or equivalent qualification; experience will also be considered.
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication, including spelling, grammar, and attention to detail.
- Problem‑solving ability, objective decision making and clear written record of the decision process.
- Ability to analyse large amounts of information from various sources.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload, and work as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high‑volume environment requiring organisation and planning skills.
- Understanding of relevant legislation including Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Human Rights Act, and Safeguarding.
- Strong IT skills, particularly with current Microsoft applications.
