SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN School

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support, including personal care, for pupils with autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities in a nurturing, nature‑rich primary SEN school.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities. Many pupils require 1:1 support, including personal care, mobility assistance, and help accessing learning.

You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a positive, structured, and engaging learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 assistance to pupils with complex needs, ensuring they can access learning and daily routines.
  • Support with toileting, feeding, mobility, and other personal care needs with dignity and sensitivity.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to help pupils regulate and thrive.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils during outdoor learning, including Forest School sessions and sensory exploration.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to deliver consistent, high‑quality support.

About You

  • Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, or physical disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Comfortable providing personal care and mobility support.
  • Able to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Passionate about helping children grow in independence and confidence.
  • Willing to embrace outdoor learning in all seasons.
