Site Assistant
Location: Gloucester
Salary: £13.26 per hour
Job Type: Temporary (Summer project) with potential extension
Working Pattern: Full‑time (part‑time applications considered). Shift patterns may include weekends.
About the Role
Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. Support the day‑to‑day operation of the school’s facilities, ensuring buildings and grounds are kept to a high standard and that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds
- Unlock and secure school buildings as required
- Respond to maintenance requests and carry out basic repairs
- Set up furniture and equipment for assemblies, meetings and school events
- Undertake manual handling duties, including moving parcels, furniture and equipment
- Support health and safety compliance across the site
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Assist with energy‑efficiency initiatives and site improvement projects
- Build positive working relationships with staff and site users
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Site Assistant, Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Handyman or similar role
- Practical maintenance and DIY skills
- Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Ability to undertake manual handling tasks
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development
