Senior Occupational Therapist – Urgent and Emergency Care Therapy Services

Exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Urgent and Emergency Care Therapy Services at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Overview

Work within a fast‑paced and evolving clinical environment, supporting patient flow across Frailty, Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to deliver safe, effective, patient‑centred care.

Responsibilities

• Support patient flow across Frailty, Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units.
• Utilise advanced clinical reasoning, judgement and problem‑solving skills to enable patients to optimise independence and support timely discharge.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of the Occupational Therapy role within urgent care pathways.
• Lead and support the therapy team, including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.
• Partnership with community providers to support seamless patient pathways and safe transitions of care.
• Manage a varied and complex caseload, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
• Supervise, support and develop junior staff and students.
• Work flexibly to support seven‑day services and participate in shift patterns over an extended working day.

Qualifications & Experience

• Band 7 Occupational Therapist with demonstrable experience in urgent care settings.
• Advanced clinical reasoning, clinical judgement and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team collaboration experience.
• Commitment to staff development and supervision of junior staff.
