Band 6 Limb Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist

Opportunity has arisen within the limb reconstruction clinical nurse specialist teams for an enthusiastic nurse to join the team based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The teams provide inpatient care of patients pre- and post-surgery and help facilitate discharges. The teams also follow patients up in outpatient settings and support via telephone.
We are looking for a dynamic nurse who has an interest in limb reconstruction with experience in trauma & orthopaedics or ortho‑plastics surgery. The service provides care for adult patients mostly based at the QE but also provides education and support to other hospitals.
This post is for 22.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and adaptable. Requirement includes post registration with experience in a relevant speciality.
The role of the Specialist Nurse includes working autonomously and as part of the wider MDT to manage a caseload of patients and support patients during their recovery, from pre to post‑op care and to help facilitate safe and efficient discharges.
Providing care of patients with circular frames, transport nails and injuries mainly related to lower limb.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Portfolio of certified / accredited post registration professional development
- Health Assessment post graduate qualification / willingness to work towards
Experience
- Post registration experience with evidence of knowledge and development for the associated area of specialist practice
- In depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for role, with willingness to undertake further training/ education to achieve agreed level of competence
- Knowledge of standards and policies associated with role
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
- Demonstrable understanding of the national / NHSE diagnostic/ therapeutic expectations / strategy around endoscopy services and can relate this to the role
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance / patient safety process’s – can relate this to the role in relation to their personal/professional accountability
