Switchboard Operator
Contract: Permanent. Working hours: 30 hours per week. Working pattern: Monday 06:00−14:00, Tuesday 06:00−14:00, Friday 08:00−16:00, Saturday 06:00−14:00. Pay: £13.01−£19.51 per hour. Location: Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
We are seeking a full‑time Switchboard Operator to join the team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. You will handle approximately 3,000 calls per day and serve as the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries, including emergency calls.
Responsibilities
- Answer internal and external calls in line with agreed KPI and SLA targets
- Provide efficient, courteous, and helpful support to callers
- Operate the hospital’s internal bleep system
- Proactively maintain the computer database of hospital personnel, departments, and telephone numbers
- Undertake clerical duties as required to support the efficient operation of the department
- Support the delivery of a 24/7 service, including working public and bank holidays where your shift pattern requires
About You
- Good communication and clerical skills
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Capable of remaining calm and performing well under pressure
- Previous switchboard, customer service, or administrative experience is preferred but not essential
