Overview

Brunel Health Group, in collaboration with Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust (GWHFT), is looking for an enthusiastic Research Nurse or Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP) to increase primary care capacity and engagement in academic and commercial trials. This joint initiative offers a unique shadowing opportunity to learn from an established research workforce and develop your expertise in a safe and trusted environment. Working across boundaries, you will help future‑prove our ability as a network partner to deliver large‑scale research in the Southwest. We aim to optimise opportunities to ensure equitable access to research studies, reflecting the ethnic diversity of our patient cohorts in Swindon and Shrivenham. Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Focus on the high‑quality delivery of 2 to 3 academic or commercial research projects, including supporting Patient Identification Centre (PIC) activities.
  • Capacity & Income Generation: Provide additional capacity for commercial trials at Great Western Hospital (GWH) to help generate income for the Trust.
  • Shadowing & Knowledge Sharing: Spend one day a week shadowing and mentoring at GWH, bringing that exposure to new studies and general learning back to primary care colleagues at Brunel Health Group (BHG).
  • Reporting & Development: Produce quarterly reports detailing learning outcomes and demonstrate progress by developing competencies against the CRN WoE Framework.
  • Process Improvement: Develop SOPs applicable to future primary care research opportunities within BHG.
  • Outreach & Collaboration: Actively seek out research opportunities, build research confidence among member practices, and liaise closely with the Central PI, Research Coordinator, and the wider healthcare system.
  • Promote Equity: Optimise opportunities to ensure diverse patient cohorts in Swindon and Shrivenham have equitable access to research studies.
  • Patient Care & Data Management: Provide direct clinical care for participants within the scope of your competence, while collecting and managing study data securely and accurately.
  • Compliance: Ensure all research activities strictly adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Information Governance standards, and overall research governance.

Qualifications

Nursing registration or equivalent.
