Assistant Headteacher – Reading, Special Educational Needs School (January 2027)

We are a Special Educational Needs School in Reading, catering for pupils aged 7 – 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. We seek a full‑time Assistant Headteacher to join us in January 2027.

Qualifications & Experience

• QTS or equivalent required.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality teaching and learning, modelling excellent practice and inspiring others.
• Strong leadership to drive whole‑school improvement, develop staff and lead strategic initiatives.
• Commitment to personal development, wellbeing and inclusion, building secure, trusting relationships with young people.
• Expertise in curriculum design, assessment systems and monitoring progress to ensure pupils achieve ambitious, personalised outcomes.
• Emotional intelligence, resilience and communication skills to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, families and external partners.
• Reflective, solution‑focused approach grounded in safeguarding excellence, professional integrity and a passion for creating exceptional pupil experiences.
